24 weeks

August 14, 2012
how far along? 24 weeks
Madelyn’s size: somewhere between 10.5-11.8 inches, 12.7-20.8 ounces (Madelyn weighed 1 lb. 4 oz. on Thursday)… about the size of a cantaloupe
weight gain: 2 pounds this week, 16 pounds total
maternity clothes: Yes
stretch marks: None
sleep: Sleeping well
best moment this week: So many exciting events happened this past week.  As always, it was wonderful to see out baby girl and hear her heartbeat.  We also had a nice but brief visit to the beach with David's family.  On Saturday, we were able to spend a little time with our friends, Johnathan and Katie, before we celebrated Sissy and Shaan's upcoming wedding, at their shower.  Last but not least, we celebrated Marissa Grace's 8th birthday with my family, on Sunday.  Whew!  I am so tired.  I think it will take all week for me to recuperate.  I told David, if I ever am overly zealous and try to do this much in a weekend again, to remind me that it is too much! ;)  But honestly, I enjoyed every moment!
food cravings: Nothing in particular
symptoms:  I'm tired and a little emotional, but I think it is mostly due to our busy and exciting week, last week
gender: Precious, baby girl!
belly button in or out: Still in-ish
movement: Yes
what I miss:  Nothing at the moment
what I'm looking forward to: Madelyn's shower, next month

24 weeks 0 days is known as viability day.  What this means is, even though we want Miss Madelyn to bake quite a bit longer, that if she were born now, prematurely, she would have a reasonable chance of survival.  The chances for her survival increase each day from now on, and the risks of complications decrease.

One of things I was super excited about this past week was receiving gifts for Madelyn from both my mom (aka Nanna) and my grandmother (aka Nana).  There is just something about getting something that I know Madelyn will use very soon that just gets me a little emotional and sentimental. Madelyn has already received so many wonderful things!  I feel so blessed that she has so many people who love her so much already!
All the goodies from Nanna

Precious layette set and matching bibs

Washcloths and Princess towel

Beautiful "M" bib

Adorable socks and shoes

Lamby!

Precious Angel Baby doll and layette set from Nana and the sweet note she attached to the gift

At our appointment Thursday, Madelyn looked great and had a strong heartbeat.  Nanna and Marissa Grace were able to be with us and see Madelyn on the ultrasound.  Although Madelyn was healthy, there was glucose in my urine, so they did a finger prick and random glucose test, and my glucose level was 153, which is high.  I have to do my fasting glucose test and glucose challenge in a couple of weeks, to get a more accurate result.  I am very anxious about having gestational diabetes and hope that the results from the next test come back normal.

I just love her sweet profile

Always sucking her thumb

Perfect little spine
