A big scare

About an hour ago, I let Charlie and Riley out in the back yard to potty and play for a while. A little while later, I went to check on them and Charlie was gone! Apparently Riley, our digger, had dug a hole under the fence. Naturally, he was to big to fit through it himself, but Charlie was able to get out. I had no idea exactly how long he had been gone or how far he could have gotten. The worst part was, he wasn't even wearing his collar! I walked around the house calling for him, but he didn't come, so I hopped in the car and started driving through the neighborhood calling his name...Still nothing! As I was pulling out of the neighborhood, I thought I spotted him walking along the side of the road in the distance. I called his name and he started running toward me. I got out of the car and ran to meet him. I scooped him up in my arms and got back in the car. He sat in my lap, as we made out way back to the house. I waited until we were inside to get on to him. Needless to say, he was in BIG trouble. I am so relieved and thankful that I found him, and he is safe.

  2. I was spanking, and yelling, and crying, and hugging simultaneously! Not a happy mama! He didn't learn his lesson though. He and Riley were BOTH out there trying to dig again this afternoon. David has blocked that spot off now. Gone are the days of them getting unlimited, unsupervised outside time! It was horrifying.

  3. Speaking of mamas, you mom accidentally called me today. She was actually trying to reach Parke and called my number by mistake. When I saw her number, my first thought was that Ellis was coming early! Honestly, I was a little disappointed that wasn't the case...I can't wait for your little man to get here! I hope you're doing well. You look so great in your blog pictures! Love you!

  4. It's a good thing you have a dog who will come back when you call him. I have the kind of dog who will keep running and can only be coaxed back with a hotdog!
