sleep: Sleeping very soundly

best moment this week: Seeing Baby Lane and it's heartbeat!  I saw the baby as soon as the tech placed the wand on my belly!  Then she showed us the heartbeat, and of course, I cried!  It was about 150, which is good! And the baby measured 7 weeks 3 days, just like I thought!

food cravings: still loving community mart pizza and also blueberry bagels with cream cheese

 symptoms: hunger, occasional fatigue, tender breasts, some nausea and a little vomiting, heart pounding (due to increased blood volume)

movement: Too early.

what I miss: Not being hungry all the time
what I'm looking forward to: I guess I'm most looking forward to our next appointment.  The ultrasound tech said we'd be able to see Baby Lane moving then! :)

sleep: Mostly uninterrupted sleep

best moment this week: I've been playing videos of babies crying for the boys, to hopefully make the adjustment easier for them when Baby Lane arrives. We were watching a video, and I was "talking to the baby", "trying to soothe the baby", talking to the boys about the baby. Then, I asked Charlie, who was right beside me, to give me a kiss if he loved the baby. He literally turned his head away from me and moved to the foot of the bed...looks like someone is already jealous!

food cravings: tater tots and Community Mart pizza

symptoms: still hungry and eating constantly, fatigue off-and-on, tender breasts, no full-blown sickness but occasional nausea, irritability

gender: Too early.

movement: Too early.

what I miss: Not being hungry all the time

what I'm looking forward to: I'm still very excited about our first prenatal appointment, which is only 3 days away! After that, I'm looking forward to making the pregnancy Facebook official, and actually posting these blog entries.

Symptoms: Increased appetite (not as bad as the past two weeks), occasional fatigue, tender breasts, and my first bout with "morning sickness" at 5 weeks 6 days

what I'm looking forward to: I'm still very excited about our first prenatal appointment...only 1 week and 3 days away!

weight gain: None (very surprising considering how much I've been eating!)

sleep: Very tired, and sleeping well.

food cravings: Food...and lots of it!

Symptoms: occasional cramps, fatigue, increased appetite (but leveling off a little, I think), swollen tender breasts, slightly darker areola

gender: Too early.

what I miss: Nothing

what I'm looking forward to: My first prenatal visit is scheduled for April 20th, and I am looking forward to that

I had a couple of extra tests, so I decided to use one this morning, because I was curious to see how dark the test line would be a week later. I was hoping that the test line would be darker than the control line...Guess I got my wish! Oh and the test line popped up immediately, even before the control line!

sleep: I am very tired, which I thought was from getting ready for the move, but turns out could be because of Baby...I'm sleeping very well!

4 weeks and 1 day

I'm "In the family way"...

or in other words, I'm PREGNANT! We have been trying to conceive since August, and we became pregnant during our 8th cycle of trying. I first tested around 4 AM the morning of March 27th (at 14 days past ovulation). My allergies woke me up and I needed to pee, so I decided to go ahead and test. I sat on the toilet playing solitaire until the timer was finished. When I looked down at the test, I could not believe I was seeing two lines! I knew David would not be as excited as I wanted him to be, so early in the morning (I could imagine telling him the news, and him grunting and rolling over to go back to sleep). So I decided to wait and tell him once he woke up. Once I stopped shaking, the first thing I did was fill out a card that I had bought him a couple months before, to tell him the news when we finally became pregnant. The outside of the card has a picture of an egg and a sperm swimming towards it, with the words "Nice Aim". All that I wrote inside was, "We are having a baby!" Then, I got back in the bed, but it took me a couple of hours to go back to sleep because I was so excited. While I was asleep, I had several dreams about it. Someone called David and woke him up around 11. I went a took a digital test, while he was on the phone. Once he was finished, I told him that I had something for him and handed him the card. He read it and said, "You're pregnant?" I said, "Yes", and we hugged, and I cried. I think I was in shock the whole day. It felt like a dream, and I kept having to look at the test, over and over again, just to remind myself it was real. My estimated delivery date is December 4th, but I could deliver any time from November 13th (David's birthday) until December 18th and be considered to term. We are so very happy and excited! We cannot wait for Baby Lane to arrive!

Bye Bye Birmingham

We closed on our house on Wednesday, March 28. I cried. I knew I would, and I did. Then on the following day, Thursday March 29, we moved out of our home and said our final goodbye...I cried some more. Selling our house and moving has been bittersweet, to say the least. On one hand, we're very thankful that we received such a great offer and in such a short amount of time...obviously, this was a HUGE blessing. But, on the other hand, that is our first home, and we've made so many wonderful memories there, it breaks my heart a little to leave it behind. Although, I know to move on to our next adventure, we have to move on...and we will make many, more, wonderful memories wherever our journey takes us!

Not only did we say goodbye to our home, I also had to say goodbye to some of my friends (even though some of them insisted that we wouldn't actually say goodbye). I cried each time. Also while packing, I looked through cards, and letters, and other mementos from dear friends from the past. I really value all the wonderful people who God has brought into my life. Even though life may take us in different directions, I cherish each and every one of them and know that my life is better for knowing them.

Needless to say, this time has been a very emotional and sentimental one for me, but most importantly, it has been a time to reflect on all of the many wonderful blessings I have received and continue to receive.
